Keeping Your Teeth Whiter and Stronger

While people pay close attention to their body details, a very few of them are less bothered about their teeth. It is also an indisputable fact that many people seek whiter teeth, but do not know what how to achieve it. Little did they know that whiter teeth are an effect of healthier and stronger enamel – the outer covering of the teeth. In other words, enamel keeps the teeth white. Coloured teeth might cause you a great embarrassment as you might be forced to hold back your smile in public. Isn’t it better to avoid such a scenario than seeking a cure after developing teeth coloring? Even after undergoing whitening treatment, some cautions have to be taken to avoid the stain returning.

The following tips will help you to keep your teeth white while also strengthening them.

  • Eat foods that are rich in calcium. For strong and healthy teeth, you need to incorporate a reasonable amount of leafy greens, nuts, and dairy products into your diet. It will help to remineralize your enamel.

  • Drink enough water rather than juice or soda. Acidic drinks such as fruit juice and soda wear away the enamel. This can cause your teeth to turn yellow; rather, take water as it is more enamel-friendly.

  • Use an enamel-strengthening toothpaste. The formula of specialized toothpaste such as Pronamel strengthens the enamel while also whitening the teeth. For effectiveness, brush with this toothpaste twice daily.

  • Avoid eating enamel-staining foods and drinks. Tomatoes, coffee, and dark soda contain a mixture of pigments and acids that can either weaken or discolor your enamel. Therefore, they should be avoided. You may also need to quit smoking.

Good oral care is also essential in keeping your teeth whiter and stronger. In the process of ensuring whiter teeth, the rest of your mouth should not suffer any neglect. Good oral care goes beyond proper brushing. Rinse your mouth – at least once daily – with an antiseptic mouthwash to kill plaque-causing bacteria. Also, always remember to floss to remove plaque and brush your tongue twice daily. A healthy mouth and gums also help in maintaining healthy and white teeth.
